I am a Professional Counsellor accredited to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (www.bacp.co.uk) and work to their standards of ethics and practice. I have counselled clients experiencing a wide range of issues e.g. depression, anxiety, stress management, anger related, trauma, domestic violence, bereavement, abuse related, substance misuse etc. over a period of 16 years. I am committed to continuing professional development as specified by BACP and in an effort to continue to improve myself.
Qualifications to date include; BA (hons) in Counselling, Diploma in Person Centred Art therapy Skills and Foundation in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
My experience includes counselling in GP practices for 5 years, in a community setting for 3 years and in private practice for 4 years.
In addition and within this I have worked with people with Dual Diagnosis (i.e. counselling clients with problems related to both ‘alcohol and a mental health issues’) and multiple complex issues. I work with people as a whole person and encourage individuals to use their emotional, mental, physical, spiritual and creative resources.
In addition I have set up a not for profit Community Interest Company with a Person Centred and Creative core philosophy, called The Road Ahead CIC. The intention of which is to reach, and listen to people who find themselves on the edge of communities.
